Heart of Love Charity Day

Because of our partnership with Admiralty RC Zone 1, we were given a chance to participate in this major event organised by Heart of Love. Our members were in charge of distributing groceries to the residents as well as sending the grocery trolleys to homes and hospices. In addition, some of the more eloquent ones were tasked to interact with the elderly and usher them to the different lanes for their grocery collection. A total of 2000 trolleys of groceries were distributed, and 70 members involved in this project, which includes students from NUS and NTU.

Kids @ Play

Kids @ Zoo Kids @ Zoo

This is our first project, in partnership with ACE the Place YEC. We brought a group of kindergarten kids to the zoo during their school holidays for a time of fun and learning experience. These kids come from lower income, or underprivileged families and many of them have never been to the zoo before as they simply can’t afford it. We did an art competition, as well as brought the kids around the zoo to different exhibits. At the end of the event, the volunteers were visibly touched by the joy that they have brought to the children so much younger than them.

Give-a-Hand Campaign

Give a Hand Give a Hand

Tapping into the power of collaboration, iCARE established contact with Community Chest and aligned themselves with Community Chest’s signature fund-raising campaign. The Give-A-Hand (GAH) Campaign, as it is called, garners support from the community through the sale of cards to send a message of hope to the less fortunate in our society. One of the beneficiaries, the Metta School, was adopted.

At the end of the two-day event, over $3000 was collected for the beneficiary. It represents the hard work and the effort that the members of iCARE and Community Chest had put in. As a result of the sales, iCARE managed to form the biggest smiley face and got into the Singapore Book of Records.

This project is a collaboration between Tanjong Pagar CC and iCARE. The objective of this project is for iCARE to get in touch with the underprivileged and the needy people living in Tanjong Pagar district, and at the same time, to promote volunteerism and impact the lives of these people. The participants truly enjoyed themselves as it was the first time that they are able to enjoy the sights of Singapore. This highlight of this event is the distinguished presence of Associate Professor Koo Tsai Kee, who holds the portfolios of MP for Tanjong Pagar GRC as well as Minster of State for Defence. At the end of the whole event, a plague was presented to iCARE as an appreciation, for taking time to interact and make a difference in the lives of the needy and the underprivileged.

Bring on a Smile

Bring on a Smile Bring on a Smile

As iCARE was generally a new club in SIM, the members wanted to create awareness for the club, and also bring a smile to as many people as possible in the school compound. One of the members offered to don on a mascot to walk around the campus. Everywhere the mascot went, the students and staff at SIM couldn’t help but to smile and there was evidently a positive atmosphere in school.
